Summary

Jirachi is a Pokemon that is a defining part of the ADV OU tier of competitive Pokemon that ADV Draft is based off of, but has only seen use in few ADV Draft tournaments to date due to it being almost banned. In a more restricted format where Earthquake is not as widespread and it is rare to even have two of its common checks on one team, Jirachi would be able to wreak havoc with its Calm Mind sets off of an impressive spread of 100 Special Attack and 100 Speed. Combined with the classic mythical Pokemon spread of 100 across each of its defensive stats, it has both the stats and movepool to hang around and become unkillable. In addition to a great special attacking movepool, it can also run more cleric-like sets by using options such as Substitute, Wish, and Protect. With 100 Attack, it can also run mixed sets and is highly customizable.

In a format where opponents' teams are known such as ADV Draft, this customization alongside its other impressive traits leads it to never seeing the light of day. It is likely that there exists a Jirachi set that can cover most, if not all, of the possible Pokemon an opponent can bring. While some tournament organizers have mentioned potentially bringing in Jirachi at a 19- or 20-point price point, these conversations are always brief due to its power. It and its fellow outlaw Suicune are banned for different reasons: Suicune does one thing extremely well with its Calm Mind sets that can be tailored to the matchup in ADV Draft, while Jirachi's adaptability makes it impossible to reliably match up against.

About

This page interfaces with a database that I maintain and collect data for from a specific format of Pokemon competition I enjoy called "ADV Draft". I have a few posts about it on this site -- one talking about how I initially went about data storage and some of the stats I use, and another about "graduating" from Google Sheets to a standard relational database and actually setting this part of my website up, and a third about adding more advanced analytics to the site.

I manually update this database as tournaments finish as I don't feel like paying money to host the database separately. The most recent finished tournament I have in the database is Revival Draft, which ended on 2025-09-26. I don't have stats for tournaments in progress here. I also don't have (or want) stats for team tournaments.

If you have a tournament you think I should add to my database or a summary for a Pokemon, give me a shout at the contact info on my home page -- I'll be happy to talk to you! This also applies to custom data requests -- send me an email with the subject "ADV DB Custom Data Request" (or similar) and I'll see what I can do for you!

All sprites are pulled from Smogon and all replays are pulled from Pokemon Showdown. This site uses Stuart Langridge's sorttable script.

Note: Mr. Mime and Farfetch'd are stored as "MrMime" and "Farfetchd", respectively.
