Summary
Fearow is a budget Normal-Flying type with average stats, but has a few interesting traits that can give it some value in ADV Draft. Fearow can be compared to other, higher cost birds like Dodrio and Swellow, as it can play a similar role to both of them -- Fearow has the same speed stat as Dodrio but a lower Attack stat, while it is much slower than Swellow but has a slightly higher Attack stat.
The first set Fearow can run is a Choice Band set with Drill Peck and Double Edge or Return to take advantage of Fearow's same type attack bonus. Additionally, Fearow gets moves like Quick Attack to stop Salac sweepers and Steel Wing or Hidden Power Ground to hit Rock and Steel types that would normally wall Normal-Flying birds. Fearow also has the option of Hyper Beam and Sky Attack to reach certain damage thresholds, effectively sacrificing Fearow or requiring prediction of a switch to inflict big damage. The other way Fearow can be run is as a supportive bird, getting access to Agility, Baton Pass, and Substitute, which are useful for passing Speed to a slower but more powerful teammate such as Metagross. Fearow also gets access to weather-clearing moves in Rain Dance and Sunny Day, which can be used against Tyranitar. Thief is another move that Fearow gets, giving it item-stealing upside, alongside Toxic and Protect which are useful in stalling out enemy Pokemon. It also has both Mimic and Mirror Move, which could be used to copy desireable moves such as Spikes or spread status depending on your matchup versus your opponent.

About
This page interfaces with a database that I maintain and collect data for from a specific format of Pokemon competition I enjoy called "ADV Draft". If you're new here or to the format, there is a New Player Guide that could be helpful. I have a few posts about this database on this site -- one talking about how I initially went about data storage and some of the stats I use, and another about "graduating" from Google Sheets to a standard relational database and actually setting this part of my website up, and a third about adding more advanced analytics to the site.
I manually update this database as tournaments finish as I don't feel like paying money to host the database separately. The most recent finished tournament I have in the database is Hoenn Khlazic 6, which ended on 2025-10-19. I don't have stats for tournaments in progress here. I also don't have (or want) stats for team tournaments.
If you have a tournament you think I should add to my database or a summary for a Pokemon, give me a shout at the contact info on my home page -- I'll be happy to talk to you! This also applies to custom data requests -- send me an email with the subject "ADV DB Custom Data Request" (or similar) and I'll see what I can do for you!
All sprites are pulled from Smogon and all replays are pulled from Pokemon Showdown. This site uses Stuart Langridge's sorttable script.
Note: Mr. Mime and Farfetch'd are stored as "MrMime" and "Farfetchd", respectively.
